Howard's Covered Bridge crosses Big Clouds Creek near Smithonia in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. Completed in 1905, the 168 foot structure is a multiple span Town lattice truss and ranks among the longest covered bridges in the state. It was built under the direction of a Mr. Hunt using convict labor, a common practice for public works of that era. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It still carries a quiet rural road across the creek.
