National Register Town Lattice

The Auchumpkee Creek Covered Bridge crosses Auchumpkee Creek south of Thomaston in Upson County, Georgia. The 96 foot span uses a Town lattice truss and was originally constructed in 1892 by the building firm of Herring and Roberts. After flood damage destroyed the earlier structure, the bridge was faithfully rebuilt in 1997 using traditional timber methods. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The bridge remains open to visitors and is a well known local landmark.
