Long Truss National Register

The Downsville Covered Bridge was built in 1854 by Scottish immigrant Robert Murray to span the East Branch of the Delaware River. It is the only covered bridge in New York to use a Long truss, reinforced with a queenpost truss, and it is the oldest of Delaware County's covered bridges. Constructed of hemlock and white oak, the 174 foot single span was rehabilitated in 1998 and remains open to traffic. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
