Springwater Volunteer Covered Bridge

Springwater Volunteer Covered Bridge crosses the Pine River in the town of Springwater, built in 1997 as a deliberate replica of Wisconsin's historic Cedarburg Covered Bridge nearly 150 miles to the southeast. Like its inspiration, it's built on a Town lattice truss, though at 44 feet it's considerably shorter than the 120-foot Cedarburg original.
True to its name, the bridge was constructed by local volunteers under the Town of Springwater's direction rather than a hired commercial contractor, making it a genuine community project in the tradition of small-town Wisconsin barn-raisings. It stands today as a working tribute to the state's vanishing covered bridge heritage — a modern structure built specifically to keep the visual memory of Wisconsin's 19th-century covered bridges alive in a corner of the state that never had one of its own.
