Dogwood Hill Road, West Finley Township, Washington County, PADanley Covered Bridge
Danley Covered Bridge crosses the Robinson Fork of Wheeling Creek on Dogwood Hill Road in West Finley Township, Washington County, north northeast of West Finley. It stands on a gravel township road in a quiet valley, several miles upstream of the Crawford Covered Bridge.
The builder and build year are unknown. Local carpenters may have built it along with similar bridges in the area, and its sawn timbers suggest it dates from after 1860. The bridge was closed from 1996 to 2000 for restoration. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1979, as part of the Covered Bridges of Washington and Greene Counties listing.
Danley is a queenpost truss bridge about 39 feet long and 11 feet 7 inches wide.
Washington County owns and maintains the bridge, which is open to vehicles. From Burnsville Ridge Road (SR 3029), about 3.8 miles north of West Finley, Good Intent Road leads to Dogwood Hill Road and the bridge. Several spots along the road are wide enough to pull off and still let vehicles pass.
