The Comstock Covered Bridge carries Comstock Bridge Road over the Trout River in Montgomery. It is a single-lane Town lattice bridge about 69 feet long, built in 1883, and it is open to vehicles.
Brothers Sheldon and Savannah Jewett of Montgomery built the bridge in 1883, preparing the timber at their mill in the town's West Hill area. The Jewetts are credited with six surviving covered bridges in Montgomery, one of the best-documented groups of bridges by a single builder in Vermont. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 19, 1974. Blow & Cote of Morrisville completely renovated it in 2003.
The Town lattice truss is a web of crisscrossed timber planks fastened where they cross. The Comstock bridge has vertical board siding and a metal roof, and it rests on dry-laid stone and concrete abutments.
The bridge is on Comstock Bridge Road off Route 118 in Montgomery. Coming in from the west on Route 118, Bank Road leads around to the far side of the bridge. Vehicles can drive through it.
