The Saco River Covered Bridge carries East Side Road over the Saco River at the north end of Conway village. The present structure was built in 1890 by members of the Berry family of bridgewrights, replacing earlier spans on the site. It is a Paddleford truss reinforced with added laminated arches, roughly 225 feet long, and remains open to vehicular traffic with a posted six-ton weight limit.

The Paddleford truss, developed by Peter Paddleford of New Hampshire, was once the dominant covered-bridge form across northern New England, and Conway is unusual in retaining two Paddleford bridges within sight of one another, the Saco River and Swift River bridges.
