Kenyon (Blacksmith Shop) Covered Bridge
Cornish, over Mill Brook near Town House Road. Built 1882, 96 ft. long. Also called the Blacksmith Shop Bridge; a multiple kingpost by James Tasker, NRHP listed, now pedestrian only.
The Kenyon Bridge, historically known as the Blacksmith Shop Bridge, spans Mill Brook a short way east of Town House Road in a wooded rural section of Cornish. Built in 1882 by James Frederick Tasker, it is 96 feet long and 14.5 feet wide, resting on dry-laid stone abutments. Its multiple kingpost trusses each consist of 28 panel sections between 29 posts, sheltered by a sheet-metal roof. The historic name comes from a nearby shop owned by blacksmith John Fellows.
The bridge underwent a major rehabilitation in 1963. It is now closed to vehicular traffic but open to pedestrians, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
