The Huffman Mill Covered Bridge was built in 1864-1865 by William T. Washer of Cannelton for $5,700, using a modified Burr Arch truss unique to his work: only the kingposts are fully upright, with other verticals angled into acute triangles rather than the typical right-angled Burr framing. It spans the Anderson River on the line between Harrison Township, Spencer County, and Anderson Township, Perry County, a few miles east of Fulda, making it the only Indiana covered bridge claimed by two counties and the southernmost surviving covered bridge in the state. It takes its name from a nearby gristmill built by pioneer settler George Huffman, who arrived in the area from Pennsylvania in 1804. The bridge rests on sandstone abutments with piers of steel and wood posts set in concrete. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 (ref. #98000299). Vehicular traffic was discontinued around 2004, but the bridge still stands intact as a pedestrian landmark connecting the two counties.
