About Graham Road Covered Bridge

The Graham Road Covered Bridge is a 97-foot Town truss structure originally built over the west branch of the Ashtabula River in Pierpont Township. Today, the bridge sits in a small park on the south side of Graham Road and is no longer open to traffic.

History of Graham Road Covered Bridge

The Graham Road Bridge has a unique history - it was built from salvaged boards from another covered bridge that was washed downstream during the devastating Great Flood of 1913. The bridge was originally constructed over the river and was relocated in 1972 to its current location in the Metro Park. This preserved the historic structure while acknowledging that it could no longer serve modern traffic needs.

Architecture and Design

The bridge features Town truss construction, identifiable by the crossing diagonal pattern of planks. A barn quilt is displayed at the bridge as part of the Ashtabula County Barn Quilt Trail. A picnic table inside the bridge allows visitors to enjoy the structure's shelter.

Visiting Graham Road Covered Bridge

The bridge is located at 4646 Graham Road, approximately 1.7 miles north of the Caine Road Bridge via Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road. While you cannot drive through this bridge, it offers an excellent opportunity to walk through and examine covered bridge construction up close. The parkland setting is ideal for picnicking and photography.
