Dellville Covered Bridge is the longest covered bridge in Perry County at 174 feet. Originally built in 1889, it was destroyed by arson in 2014 and beautifully rebuilt in 2019 using the original plans.

About Dellville Covered Bridge

Dellville Covered Bridge is the longest and widest covered bridge in Perry County, spanning 174 feet over Sherman Creek. Originally built in 1889 by Andrew Clouser, the bridge was destroyed by arson in November 2014 and faithfully rebuilt in 2019 at a cost of $966,000.

History of Dellville Covered Bridge

The first bridge at this site was built in 1810. The structure that stood until 2014 was constructed in 1889 by Andrew Clouser. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. On November 3, 2014, the bridge was destroyed by fire; two individuals were later charged with arson.

Architecture and Design

The reconstructed Dellville Covered Bridge maintains the original three-span Burr Arch Truss design. At 174 feet long and 20 feet wide, with an interior height of 11 feet 10 inches, it is Perry County's longest and widest covered bridge.

Visiting Dellville Covered Bridge

Dellville Covered Bridge is located on Pine Hill Road, just south of Dellville in Wheatfield Township, about 10 miles outside of Duncannon. A modern concrete bridge now carries the main road traffic.
